Ushering in the new year

This new year’s eve was special. It was fun, as usual, and we were out with some crazy folks and had a good time. Before I tell you why it was special though, here are a couple of interesting pointers – two-trillain-and-counting and – the-most-widely-used-data-app.

So, now to the the special part. This year, just like every year, we exchanged text messages with our relatives in India and all over the US. However, this time, we just sent them the texts on yewoh groups! And the entire extended family was in on the conversation and could respond. It was great! We were out partying with friends at 3 in the morning, I know Siva was probably somewhere lying down after drinking too much, my brother probably cut school to stay home and nurse his hangover (it was the next morning in India). Our parents, and uncles and aunts were in various states, (and probably in varying stages of inebriation or recovery). But everyone was in on the conversation, wherever they were, and the text-messages were flying back and forth, carrying best-wishes for the new year that had just started.

Seeing yewoh in action was certainly a great start!

P.S. Some of the messages were priceless… luckily, the entire conversation is logged on the yewoh group for any of us to go back to and have a laugh… hey Punit, watch where you put your iPod the next time!
